  • Taylor Byrnes - Principal


    Taylor's love of dancing was clear from a young age. She started classes from the age of four at the Betty Plant School, which eventually became the The Danceworks. 
    Taylor then went on to train professionally at The New English Contemporary Ballet School, which gave her the first opportunity to perform within a professional show in 'The Nutcracker'. She developed her training in Musical Theatre at MDDC in Liverpool. It was there she became a qualified teacher in Ballet, Tap and Modern with the ISTD, and also gained a LAMDA teaching diploma in Drama. After graduating, she performed in a number of pantomimes with 8freestyle Productions, along with a Michael Jackson tribute UK tour. 
    Her love of dance then took her on to a new path when she toured America with 'Circus of the Kids', a travelling circus school. 
    "I am excited to use my experience in order to pass on the skills and knowledge I have gained throughout my training and career to others who also love and thrive off this fantastic art form."

  • Genene Bowers - Principal (currently on sabbatical)


    Miss Genene’s training began at the age of four at the Betty Plant Theatre School where she studied all forms of dance, drama and singing. She won the North West of England Scholarships in Ballet, Tap Modern aged 14yrs. Her professional training continued at the Northern Ballet School Manchester where her talent for dance and singing grew and flourished. Miss Genene then finished her ISTD & RAD professional teaching at Preston Dance College
    Miss Genene worked extensively as a dancer in the theatre and television industry travelling all over the United Kingdom & Europe with Royal Carribean Cruises, P & O Cruises, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Qdos Entertainments, Entertainment Unlimited, Oakwood Leisure Park,  for over 10 years- starting as a dancer and then into leading roles as actress and singer. She has worked with a host of international celebrities in pantomime, theatre and cabaret. After retiring from the professional world, she transitioned into teaching as the principal at The Danceworks. She ultimately developed the school raising the profile and reputation of the school.
    Teaching has always been in her heart and been part of her life since her early teens, with emphasis on choreography for regional competitions and our prestigious school shows. Her versatility enables her to teach all subjects including vocal, drama and musical theatre lessons, drawing on her years of experience in the theatrical industry.
    Miss Genene is extremely excited to nurture the new stars of today combining her professional career with the teaching of new and young talent, and is glad to give them firsthand advice when wishing to take performing arts as a career.

  • Stacey Parkes


    Stacey has over 20 years of experience within the dance world. She began her training at the age of 2 years with her teacher Mariyka Boloubaz. She then went on to train professionally under the watchful eye of Phil Winston. From there she went on to enjoy leading roles in the some of the West End’s most prestigious productions. Stacey then went to appear with some of the biggest names in dance music working in California and Ibiza. More recently Stacey was invited to teach a masterclass at the biggest dance convention in the UK.  In addition to her dance career Stacey is an established singer and still performs at private events. She is also accredited by the Association of Teachers of Singing. Stacey’s aim is to pass on her years of knowledge to all the children she teaches in every aspect of Dance and Musical Theatre.

  • Jo-Ann Cunliffe

    Dance teacher

    Joanne was Born in Salford. She has trained at NBS in Manchester and gained the first ever diploma there.  Joanne then went on to dance and teach in Athens. On returning home she began teaching at full time dance schools and dancing cabaret. She has taught at Kate Simmonds, Warrington /Hammond school in Chester and currently teaches at NBS and DW. 

  • Jancy Camilleri

    Jancy from the age of 3 began her training at The Northern Ballet School in Manchester until the age of 18. Throughout her time at NBS she performed with the English National Ballet in The Nutcracker and sleeping Beauty. Also performing in numerous pantomimes.
    Since leaving NBS Jancy found her love for Contemporary and Street Dance, this is where she began to study her degree in Physical Theatre and Dance.
    In 2008 Jancy became a qualified teacher in freestyle/street dance IDTA.
    Jancy Loves that as a Dance Teacher she watches her students build confidence and believe in themselves. Aiming to pass her love knowledge and experiences on to each child showing them how amazing the art really is.

  • Florence King

    Drama/Music Theatre/Vocal Teacher

    Florence started performing from a very early age and comes from a family of actors and singer/songwriters. She has sung at music festivals across the world with her family, from Norway to America and has appeared on many albums. As well as being a singer, Florence is also a pianist and flautist and has been playing and writing music since the age of seven. 

    In her first year of studying Performance, Drama and Theatre at Salford University she performed in The Royal Exchange’s production of Miss Julie. She then went on to play a leading role in the radio drama The Other Half which has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4, amongst others, and has also been released on CD. She has recently played Jack in Jack and The Beanstalk and is playing the lead role in a short film that is due to be released in 2017. 

    Florence also runs her own theatre company (Scallywags Theatre Company) which provides original children’s theatre, specialising in puppetry and live music, for families in the Manchester area. Florence also has experience working in special needs schools with the Scallywags, working with children of all abilities and encouraging them to perform and explore their creativity. 

    Florence is thrilled to be joining The Danceworks staffing team and is excited to work with the talented, young performers. She hopes to encourage their passion for the arts!
